      FYI: These aren’t caterpillars. They’re some species of pine sawfly larvae. They’re hymenopterans – relatives of wasps and bees. You’ll often find them feeding in groups on the new needles of pine trees.

          You’re welcome. It’s a common mistake – they do look and act like caterpillars. I’m just happy to do my part in the struggle for entomological accuracy.
