    This impressive building of 1896 vintage originally housed the wholesale grocery business of Charles Hutwelker, who started a meat packing business in Brooklyn in 1884. Hutwelker died in 1924. The sign on top of the building is an enduring monument to his success.

    Great pictures! Charles Hutwelker was one of my grandfathers (can’t remember which one, great or great-great, great-great-great, etc.) But it’s nice to see these pics on here! Thanks!
