  1. That Bostonia cigar building belonged to my maternal grandfather, Francis X. Oberle who opened this location in 1876 when he immigrated from Sasbach, Germany. I still have several cigar boxes and other paraphernalia from the Bostonia Cigar Company.
How would I go about obtaining copies of these pictures and/or especially calendars that you have on file. Thank you very much for any help you can give me as I would like to have them for gifts to my relatives. If this is possible then please let me know the cost.

wow David! Thanks for the historical background. I can sell you digital prints if you would like. Calendars are a great idea. There is a German publisher who is tentatively doing a calendar of my work, but not these images per se. I will email you for further info.

    Best,
    Frank

  3. Frank,
Thanks for the reply. Would appreciate the information that you mentioned. Probably 16 calendars. I know thats not much but willing to accommodate for the cost if fairly reasonable. Really Interested.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

  4. Frank,

Sorry – $40 per is out of my league. I’m sure the price you quoted is worth it with all the work involved but thought the cost would be a lot less. Thanks anyway for your help.

Back on 12/17/07 there was correspondence between us over the Boston Cigar Factory in Boston, MA. I assumed that our correspondence was between us and not the internet. On 12/18/07 in reply to your $40 dollar calendar fee, I was being tactful and I am sorry if I offended you in any way without actually telling you that the same cost locally was $10.00 per calendar. I just wanted to clarify the matter. D.Kurriss

If you are buying from a published calendar, of course it will be cheaper than if I manually go through my collection for images for your calendar as a one off. No problem.

    Hi Frank,

Great photo’s of my Grandfather’s Bostonian Cigar company from the year 1876. His name as you know was Frank X. Oberle from Sasbach, Germany. I would love to have copies printed and will be happy to send you whatever prices yu are asking, and if calanders are made would love to have one also.

Thank you kindly for these precious photo’s of my heritage.

    Sincerely,

    Gerry Stangeby, (Oberle)

  6. MUCHOS GREETINGS FROM my Quest to find out more info. re ; my Grandfather Wiliiam Ginsberg’s role in the cigar store era in Boston,Mass.Alas,i regret starting so late as my Dad a nd his siblings,as well as my Grandfather have all passed away/ i know as a little kid my Mom would drive into Boston to shop at Jordan M arsh and we parked the car in a parking garage close to my GRANDFATHER’S CIGAR STORE.WE ALWAYS STOPPED TO VISIT HIM AS WELL AS MY UNCLE FRANK WHO helped in the store. My memories of this event sadly are dim,,,,i remember it being tiny and loaded to the max with cigarettes/cigars/and tons of tobaccianna……….no sooner did a customer walk thru the door that within the snap of your fingers a cigar or carton of cigarette’s were ready & wrapped without the customer uttering a word !!! One of my siblings thought perhaps he owned or had interest in t he Bostonia CIGAR factory.
