  1. My grandfather, Albert (Israel ) Adelson, painted that sign. If you look at the bottom right, you can still see the “Concord Co.” logo. My cousin Glenn still runs Concord Painting, an offshoot started by his father, my uncle Sherman. My father, Marvin and uncles Ted & Sherman were all great tradesmen in a craft fading slowly into history. Thank you for preserving this image. My father’s work still appears all over New York city as an enduring tribute, but seeing it online makes it a little easier to share with the world.

Thank you so much for sharing your family history with us. I’ve enlarged the Concord Co sign and will be reposting it with your anecdotes. Best to you and your family, Frank

Randy, we are cousins. My Uncle Al (Israel) and my grandfather (Louis) were brother (along with three others). I have another connection to Max Fortunoff- my other grandfather, Barney Blackman, were friends back in the day and Max wanted Barney to go into business with him at the very beginning of Fortunoffs. He said no!
