In the shipping industry and logistics, drayage is the transport of goods a short distance, often as part of a longer overall move. A drayage trip can typically be completed in a single work shift. The term drayage is also used for the fee paid for such services.
The term originally meant “to transport by a sideless cart,” or dray. Such carts, pulled by dray horses, were used to move good between ships or railroad cars and factories, warehouses and shops. – Drayage – Wikipedia

My buddy Pete Anderson found this ad while walking to work on an alternative route. Something to say for taking the road less traveled! Great find. Read more at Pete Lit.

This was forwarded to me from Forgotten-NYer, Kevin Walsh:
Just took these photos on Ditmars Boulevard at 31st Street, where a Rite Aid closed. Before the Rite Aid was an Eckerd, and before that it was a Genovese Drug. My sister moved into this neighborhood in 1987 when it was a Genovese. At some point prior to that time a Woolworth occupied the space, and the outline of the letters has been exposed by the current renovation, which will make the location into a CVS.
Just thought I would send these along though somebody has probably already done so.
Sincerely,
David Sanders

Hi Frank,
This is at the Avenue H station on the Q line. The building is on the southbound side of the station. It’s the east-facing wall of 1504 Avenue H building. The MTA removed the corrugated steel partitions during the on-going rehabilitation project. I’m hoping they don’t repaint the wall when they replace the siding. But in case they do, I thought you should add it to the files.
I haven’t been able to find any more information on Maurice’s Ice Cream aside from this: http://www.harringtonhousebedandbreakfast.com/History/ I’m assuming it’s the same company. I would love to know more about it and what the entire ad was for.
Have a good Labor Day weekend.
Best,
Valerie
