WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES

We almost lost the whole blog. Apparently, the entire database on BLUEHOST has been corrupted and I had to rebuild from scratch. You will also notice on many of the posts, there are missing images and truncated (distorted or just damaged) files. I am in the process of reinstalling them. Since there are three years worth of daily postings, this will take some time. Please notify me as to which ones are damaged and I will try to relocate those files. Just goes to show you – BACK UP everything! – even if you think your web-host is backing them up. Thank you for your patience.

Labor Day Guest Fades – Woolworth Ghost Shadow – Astoria, Queens – David Sanders

© David Sanders

This was forwarded to me from Forgotten-NYer, Kevin Walsh:

Just took these photos on Ditmars Boulevard at 31st Street, where a Rite Aid closed. Before the Rite Aid was an Eckerd, and before that it was a Genovese Drug. My sister moved into this neighborhood in 1987 when it was a Genovese. At some point prior to that time a Woolworth occupied the space, and the outline of the letters has been exposed by the current renovation, which will make the location into a CVS.

Just thought I would send these along though somebody has probably already done so.

Sincerely,
David Sanders
