Mimi Appears 2003 - black & white gelatin print © Frank H. Jump
This is the first day I saw our cat Mimi. Vincenzo called her “a scrawnty thing.” I developed the negative and created this print while completing my first Masters degree in Education at Brooklyn College in 2003. Sadly, Mimi died rather quickly from liver failure on April 23, 2012.

“I Zimbra” is the opening track of the 1979 Talking Heads album Fear of Music. The lyrics are an adaptation of Dadaist Hugo Ball’s poem “Gadji beri bimba.”
