From top to bottom,ad copy reads \u201cKing Bee Hats \u2013 King-Brinsmade Merc. Co.\u201d \u201cWrigley\u2019s Spearmint Pepsin Gum \u2013 Trade Mark Registered \u2013 The Flavor Lasts\u201d and, within the pointing arrow, \u201cBuettner\u2019s \u2013 Seventh and Washington \u2013 Home Furnishings \u2013 Arrow Stamps.\u201d To the right of Buettner\u2019s is a barely legible ad for \u201cAnti-Kamnia Tablets \u2013 Ask For A-K Tablets.\u201d &#8211; <strong>Hats, Shoes and Overalls &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Wm. Stage- The Painted Ad<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Back in 1999 when I was already an Internet sensation with the Fading Ad Campaign website, I met Wm. Stage on a cross-country tour while driving a misguided friend back to New York from Santa Fe. Stage was very generous with his knowledge of signs and locations in his domain of St. Louis. We slept on his couch the evening we met and he sent me out on a photo expedition the next morning.
