According to Wikipedia:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The\u00a0<b>seal of the\u00a0<a title=\"New York City\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_City\" target=\"_blank\">city of New York<\/a><\/b>, adopted in an earlier form in 1686, bears the legend\u00a0<small>SIGILLUM CIVITATIS NOVI EBORACI<\/small>\u00a0which means simply &#8220;The Seal of the City of New York&#8221;:\u00a0<a title=\"Eboracum\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eboracum\" target=\"_blank\">Eboracum<\/a>\u00a0was the Roman name for York, the\u00a0<a title=\"Titular ruler\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Titular_ruler\" target=\"_blank\">titular<\/a>\u00a0<a title=\"Seat (legal entity)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seat_(legal_entity)\" target=\"_blank\">seat<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0<a title=\"James II of England\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/James_II_of_England\" target=\"_blank\">James II as Duke of York<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In both decorative wall plaques, the bald eagle is looking to the &#8220;sinister&#8221; side where a Lenape Indian stands.
