April 1875 in\u00a0Livorno,\u00a0Italy\u00a0\u2013 2. February 1942 in\u00a0Cannes,\u00a0France) was an\u00a0Italian\u00a0poster artdesigner\u00a0who lived in\u00a0Paris.<span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">\u00a0<\/span>He is now often called &#8216;the father of modern advertising&#8217; because of his innovation in poster design. The early advertising poster was characterized by a painterly quality as evidenced by early poster artists\u00a0Jules Ch\u00e9ret, Alfred Choubrac and Hugo D&#8217;Alesi. Cappiello, like other young artists, worked in way that was almost the opposite of his predecessors.
