He\u2019s taken simple pictures for a decade, providing an\u00a0unparalleled\u00a0connection to a century of history.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cI worked there,\u201d wrote Tony in April 2009 when he saw the faded ad for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fadingad.com\/fadingadblog\/?p=868\">Coney Island Rubbish Removal<\/a>\u00a0from the corner of Cortelyou Road and Coney Island Avenue (pictured above). \u201cI drove roll from \u201875 to \u201886 with Studdering John, Fat Vinny, Dirty Ronnie. Anyone remember those guys?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Two years later, as if out of the blue, Fat Vinny\u2019s family found the picture, read Tony\u2019s comment and answered that Vinny had died. Soon, Big Jim\u2019s daughter delivered news of his death a decade ago. She hoped to talk to his own co-workers about his life.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The dead returned to life, even if very briefly, thanks to a Frank Jump\u2019s picture of almost illegible chipped green paint\u00a0in Ditmas Park.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Frank\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fadingad.com\/fadingadblog\">Fading Ad Blog<\/a>\u00a0started in 1999 as an all-HTML web site documenting a century\u2019s worth of vintage mural ads on brickfaces in New York City.
