My (very vague) earliest memories are of the Flushing Fair, which I visited with my parents when I was 3. Thanks for the flashback!

What wonderful photos! It looks like the Fair was a lot of fun – I was two going on three and I don’t think we went, though we probably drove by it nearly every week on the way to visit family on the Island…

There is a great, comprehensive site about the ’64-’65 World’s Fair here http://www.nywf64.com/

  4. Really? Your babysitter was named Gay?!

Looks like we were there at the same time.

    Thanks BigMiss!

Hey Xris! I think I remember you! We wandered off behind the reeds and…

Yes, her name was Gay. Explains a lot.

Hey Frank – you were so cute! I remember the 64 World’s Fair too. I think my Dad has movies, but no photos. These photos of you are great.

Sheri! Thank you so much for commenting on my blog. Believe it or not, very few of my friends do so I’m honored. Yeah, I think I have great memories of the World’s Fair but then again, I’ve been reliving it through the photos all these years, who knows what really is memory. I do remember the DOW exhibit with the giant vat of ball bearings in a plexiglass cylinder that people were stealing. The Travelers Expo with the ride. The telephone ride. It’s a Small World After All freaked me out. And the Hawaiian lady I remember. Remember Palisades Amusement Park? And Rockaways Playland? What about the Big Bow Wow?

My first big date was at the fair summer of 1964 – With a doctor’s daughter. It cost me $16.00 for the whole day including the tickets to the fair – I was trying to impress her. HAH. We of course had Belgian Waffles…..
