Yesterday I had the honor of meeting Priscilla Ege & Alice Lotosky from Bayonne’s Peal Collection, LLC (business card below)-

Peal Collection LLC

We talked about the importance of historic preservation of signs & buildings to a community’s identity & tourism- which has a positive impact on commerce. My friend Dr. Andrew Irving, an Anthropology Professor who is visiting from London, was also present.

    Hi Frank,
Would Dr Irving be interested in a UK society/club?

    Dear Frank,

I finally met the man who inspired me to pursue my passion for faded ads! What a pleasure it was for us to be with you last week and we appreciated your taking the time to make it happen. We were able to spot some of the ads you suggested to us and even captured a few on film. The ‘Baby Ruth’ one was a real find since it will be covered up within the next 2 weeks. We can’t save all the signs except through photography which at least provides a premanent record for future generations to show that they did exist at one time. Also, thanks for adding us to your web site so quickly — and please, the honor was ours.

Let’s plan for you to travel to Bayonne sometime in the Fall where we not only treat you to some good pierogies (or whatever your dining pleasure) but we will give you a personal drive around town to share our favorite faded ads with you. If you travel by public transportation, we will be glad to guide you to the best place for a pick up.

In the meantime, please send me your mailing address so I can forward you some photos, articles and other ‘surprises’.

    Sincerely,
    Alice

    and……

    Frank,

I’m beginning to love those “faded ads” almost as much as you and Alice. We plan on using your term, in your honor, from now on in all our press. And speaking of press, we’ll be sure to send you a copy of the article we write for the local paper on our meeting in which we will mention your website so people can learn more about you, the ads, and your cause. Thanks for making my partner’s day! Be well and say hi to Andrew us.
